Providing Services for Human Sexuality and Well-being Essay
Offering Types of assistance for Human Sexuality and Well-being - Essay Example The most clear methods in incorporating a person's sexuality is through their genuine sex (Molina, 1999). Being a male or a female could as of now absolutely influence one's sexuality. People are diverse from numerous points of view even from the littlest viewpoints to the most striking highlights - guys and females walk, stand and sit uniquely in contrast to each other, both additionally have their own unmistakable path in taking a gander at something, both will have various sentiments about a specific issue, both think in a particular way. In any case, one doesn't need to delve into the mental subtleties of being a male or a female since truly, the two sexual orientations as of now show various contrasts, from the state of the face to their body structure all in all. This part of contrasts is clarified by a part of science called science - it clarifies about sexual separation, sexual reaction and sex hormones. It is through sexual separation that not just the external physical properties of male and female contrast yet additionally their sexual propagation (Bancroft, 2002). Sexual orientation is resolved here, the X and Y chromosomes are the assigned determinants of what a male or a female is (a XY chromosome recommends a male while and XX chromosome suggests a female). In view of this natural sexual separation, most of the general public just has two rooms structure sex personality and that is for a kid and for a young lady, shockingly, it isn't generally that sexual separation and chromosome improvement produce what is considered as right, right and worthy. There have been different instances of intersex or otherwise called hermaphroditism which is marked as a ââ¬Å"sexual disorderâ⬠and ââ¬Å"chromosome anomalyâ⬠(Fallon, Jr., 2002 ).... There have been different instances of intersex or otherwise called hermaphroditism which is marked as a sexual confusion and chromosome inconsistency (Fallon, Jr., 2002). Thusly, sexual reaction alluded to the sexual excitement and changes in the body physiologically (Bancroft, 2002). It is additionally alluded to as a psychosomatic hover in which changes that happen in the genitalia influence the procedures of the focal cerebrum strategies. What is sexual is distinctive among individuals as what is sexual for one won't be sexual for the other; it relies upon the encounters that the individual has experienced or the way of life that he has lived in and has been acclimated with (Bancroft, 2002). Sexual reaction is considered as a psychological action where it is both a recognition and an assessment (Walen and Roth, 1987, as refered to by Molina, 1999). As an observation, it has three fundamental things which are recognition - which alludes to the capacity of the individual in distinguishing upgrade and separating it from the other of its sort, marking - which relates to the classifying of the improvement event by the individual, and attribution - which alludes to the general verbalized defense of the entire discernment. The said three highlights could extraordinarily influence the general sexual presentation of an individual (Molina, 1999). In conclusion, sex hormones is supposed to be significant factor in impacting sexual conduct (Molina, 1999). The hormones that are being emitted by the various organs in the human body, it is exclusively liable for why sexual separation exists. Male and female, however they are supposed to create similar hormones, contrast in the measure of the hormones being delivered. Therefore, they are not the equivalent - for instance, guys

Racism Against The Irish Racism - 861 Words
In this paper, I intend to investigate how racism against the Irish in Britain has changed since the nineteenth century to the modern day, and these causes of the initial prejudices and how they adjusted over time. To accomplish this, I will examine occurrences of anti-Irish racism in Britain from a variety of dates, and propose causes of the racist feelings though evidence of popular racist and colonialist theory at the time. Through this analysis, I hope this paper achieves a better understanding of how racism and prejudice works throughout time, so that its effects can be hindered in the future. The issue of anti-Irish racism in Britain is not a relic of the past. The Plymouth Herald published an article reporting some instances of anti-ginger related crimes in recent years. ââ¬Å"Officers revealed that in a crime recorded on January 13, 2013 a red-headed person was assaulted and occasioned actual bodily harm. The offender was given a caution for the crime investigated by Plymout h Central and Plymstock Sector.â⬠(The Plymouth Evening Herald, 25). All anti-ginger and anti-Irish crimes in the area would be difficult to record, however since crimes against this group of people are not classified as hate crimes, and thus are not reported as such. Not only is violence against the Irish in Britain a modern issue, ââ¬Å"scientific studiesâ⬠concluding that the Irish and other minority groups in Britain are racially inferior, traditionally thought of as an archaic practice during theShow MoreRelatedAnalysis of The Irish Way by James R. Blackness and The Black Experience Free Essays
The experience of being black, like the experience of having any other skin color, is left wide open to the personal viewpoint of the individual. Still, with the black race, there is a legacy of being forcibly removed from their homeland and enslaved, and this legacy probably affects the outlook of every black person in some way. In the ancient world, an individual with ââ¬Å"blackâ⬠skin was not considered inferior. We will write a custom essay sample on Blackness and The Black Experience or any similar topic only for you Order Now The Greeks, for example, did not regard skin color as an impediment to coordination in social order. They instead judged a man based on his integrity, his word, and his ability. ââ¬Å"What is blackness? â⬠ââ¬Å"What is the black experience? Blackness is defined as the property of being black in color, but that is a raw definition that has no context in human experience. While the ancients seemed to have little or no problem with color, the idea of race difference has been a struggle for modern societies everywhere. Scholar W. E. B. Du Bois calls it ââ¬Å"the problem of the twentieth century. â⬠Du Bois contends that the supposed ugliness exists fundamentally in the psyches of the cutting edge spectators. What that means to me is that, whatever prejudices may exist in the minds of leaders then translates to the attitudes, and more critically the laws, of everyday citizens. In England color turned into the premise of segregation. In the United States, the institution of slavery was the central argument in a statesââ¬â¢ rights debate that erupted into the bloodiest war of the 19th century. Even after the Civil War, racial segregation, violence, the KKK, and the struggle for equality marred the next one hundred years. How black people perceive their own ââ¬Å"blacknessâ⬠today, as opposed to 1863, when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, is sure to be different. Blackness must have a completely different meaning in 2013. In fact, the very word ââ¬Å"blackâ⬠is no longer used as often, having been replaced with ââ¬Å"African-American. â⬠The idea of ââ¬Å"blacknessâ⬠must have made drastic leaps for the better when this country elected a black president. This is a sharp contrast to the self-image blacks had during the years of slavery (in this country and others, including their own native continent). As the decades pass, one would hope that the legacy of slavery, mistreatment, bigotry, and inequality has waned, and become a historical acknowledgement rather than an influencing factor in the psyche of modern individual blacks in the world. I believe that this trend will continue. In dealing with the black people I know, I donââ¬â¢t hear them talking about being mistreated or discriminated against as much as what Iââ¬â¢ve read about in our countryââ¬â¢s history. Black people seemed to be more present in prestigious jobs and government positions. At least in America, black people are being given more and more opportunity, and society continues to try and fulfill its promise of equality and equal protection. If this continues, I hope that the idea of ââ¬Å"blacknessâ⬠is one of promise, hope and pride, and not despair. How to cite Blackness and The Black Experience, Papers

Paradise Now and Then free essay sample
Understanding who the characters were and the reasoning for their actions was missing. Learning on how and why they started fighting was a challenge faced while watching this film. The lack of seeing relationships form and how the fighting started was a major difference compared to Paradise Now and then. During this ninety-minute production it was very clear on the relationships the characters held with one another. The roles each character played were easily connected back to the plot and helped unfold later scenes because of the apparent character attitude due to the time span of the film. The tactical plans behind the filmââ¬â¢s attacks are showcased in very different ways. In The Battle of Algiers that attacks donââ¬â¢t show any planning before the actual attacks. The attacks on the street all just occur without planning. The attack upon the Palestinians is all of a car ride over to their community and a bomb explodes the building. We will write a custom essay sample on Paradise Now and Then or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The third attack from the Palestinians is all of three women changing their appearance to cross the border and the man creating the bomb. All that is left is the execution.Within Paradise Now and then the planning initially started nearly ten minutes into the film and wasnââ¬â¢t executed until eighty minutes later at the end. Since this plot takes so long to actually play out, it shows the emotions of the characters as to how they feel about their assignment. This also helps grasp an emotional level with Said and Khaled. Watching them go through the process and make decisions contributes to understanding of their different personalities. The Battle of Algiers, is a continuous strike to one side, then a counterattack from the other side.An in depth reason as to how the battle was started, the tactics behind the different attacks, and why specific person(s) were responsible for performing the attack was unclear because of the short time span. The music in The Battle of Algiers helped lead the viewer to certain feelings in various scenes. During the first attack scene from the Palestinians the music was dark and evil. This music type didnââ¬â¢t support the attacks of the Palestinians and seemed to take the other side. But when the Palestinians were attacked, the music was sad and remorseful suggesting feeling bad for the victims and their loss. The same music type took place while the French colonists bombed the Palestinian building. The music was dark and evil but when the French were bombed, the music was depressing and gloomy. Within the twenty-six minutes the film never chose protagonists and antagonists. The setting of the films played a big role on what the sides were actually fighting for. In the beginning of Paradise Now and then, while Said and Khaled are smoking they are sitting upon a hill. The camera is set from behind them looking down over their town suggestion they have power and control. This is showing whom they would be fighting for and the mass number of people who would be affected. Said crosses the border and walks along a highway of huge open land. Also Said and Khaled walk downtown together through towering buildings. The two scenes suggest the size of the opponent. In The Battle of Algiers, all of the scenes occur in the small streets of France and it appears as if the battle is being fought within one community. The camera is taking the view of a character on the street during the battles suggestion that neither side has power over the other. While one story crosses the street to fight for their people, the other crosses the border. Film making decisions can very easily pull in a viewer to the themes and motives of a plot. In The Battle of Algiers, the viewer does not get pulled into the battle. The film lacks the interest of one side over another and without this choosing of a protagonist verse an antagonist, the viewer cannot feel emotionally tied into the battle. Also without being introduced to any characters, the viewer in unclear to who is really being put at risk with each attack, who is gaining or losing what from the attacks, and what is actually being gained or lost. The only influence on the attacks that the viewer is aware of is that one side attacked another, so they must strike back. The filmmaking decisions do not shape the viewers attitude toward any character in this film. In Paradise Now and then, the viewer follows Said and Khaled through their journey to supposedly the end of their lives. The viewer is able to feel why the characters choose to go along with their mission, what is at stake if the mission is attempted, and what will be gained and lost if the mission is successful. Religion is a big factor that influences Said and Khaled to become suicide bombers. Khaled asks, ââ¬Å"What happens after death? â⬠He gets an answer of ââ¬Å"Two angels will pick you up. â⬠This is very satisfying for Khaled and Said to hear. Remarks are often made throughout the film regarding God. That they are doing their people and God a favor. Also ââ¬Å"We do what we have to, God decides the rest. â⬠At first they know what they will do will affect their people and help solve this fight, but then when Khaled talks to Suha, she talks him out of the bombing telling him that maybe if they donââ¬â¢t strike back that Israel will back off. The viewer is drawn to the fact that Khaled and Said are not fighting for violence or to kill, they are fighting for their people and God. The camera work while Said is talking about his father helps the viewer feel sympathetic for his loss of his father. The camera slowly zooms in on Said as he describes his father and this captures the viewerââ¬â¢s attention and pulls the viewer in as if Said is talking directly to the viewer. The viewer is also influenced to want Said and Suha together. Suha is only around when she is with Said. After the first scene Khaled tells Said that he thinks Suha likes him. After that the viewer is drawn to believe there is a connection between the two. This affects the later scene when Suha tries to influence Said not to fight because now the viewer is torn between having Said sacrifice himself for his people and God, or wanting Suha and Said to be together.Suhaââ¬â¢s last appearance is while she is siting down at her table gazing at a picture of Said. The films do not showcase the political issues at stake in the historical situations. In the stories, all that is at stake within the plots are peoplesââ¬â¢ lives. Whether it is a shooting on the street or a suicide bombing across the boarder, which kills the bomber and the victim. No other issue takes a bigger role in these two plots that the loss of peoplesââ¬â¢ lives. It does seem correct as Suha said; if the opposing side doesnââ¬â¢t have a reason to strike back, the fighting will stop. The two films are stories of bombings between two different sides but are introduced through different means of filmmaking decisions. These different tactics shape the viewerââ¬â¢ attitude towards the bombing itself and the characters within the plot. In The Battle of Algiers, the viewer is influenced to oppose fighting due to one strategy, which is music choice. In Paradise Now and then, the viewer is influenced by the will to fight, which is an example of setting. Both films are stories about bombing but draw the audience into the plot with different tactics and strategies.

Informative Essay Sample on Baseball A Brief History
Informative Essay Sample on Baseball A Brief History Free sample essay on Baseball: Baseball is the center of the universe without its position in the universe the earth would tilt of its axis and we would all parish in a huge ball of flame. Did you know that baseball is over one hundred years old. The first game of baseball was played in the Elysian Fields, in Hoboken, New Jersey. Since then baseball had came along way to make itself a huge spectator sport. Baseball has been apart of everyone lives, weather you played as a child or went to see a game with your family, or just watched a game on tv , baseball was always there. In this speech I will explain to you a brief history of baseball and how it became are nations pastime and also a source of entertainment for many years. I obtained information for this speech in the book, The Baseball Almanac also from the online baseball archives at www.baseball1.com. Their are 3 main topics I will discuss during this speech. First of which is how baseball came to be in the early days. Second the rapid growth of the game in t he 20th century in America. Last I will talk about the late years of baseball with strikes and labor battles within the league. First the early days of baseball, Unlike basketball and football, interest in baseball were not sweeping the globe. Throughout the 19th century small towns formed teams, and baseball clubs were formed in large cities. In 1845 Alexander Cartwright a team owner himself, put in a list of rules by which teams can play and remarkably we still use those rules today. The first recorded game was played by Cartwrights Knickerbockers against a New York club in the Elysian Fields I spoke of early in the speech. Eleven years later owners came together to form the National Association of Base Ball Players. In the next year of play the game supported itself by charging admission for fans to watch the game. Baseball next turning point would be intertwined with the turmoil of the Civil War. The war hurt many teams and the number of clubs dropped. But the war also helped spread the game around to different states which helped the games come back after the war. Now that we have looked at early baseball. Lets turn to the huge growth of the game in the 20th century. A major step in the game in 1903 when the American and National baseball leagues joined. From their baseball accelerated up hill. In 1905 the world series was implemented and the 2 best teams from each league would play for the title. Also that year the take me out to the ball game that we all know became popular. By 1915 players were getting nice salaries and could quit their other jobs and focus on baseball full time. The 20s and 30s were marked the golden years of baseball big names like Babe Ruth and Ted Williams lured more people to the sport. By this time in America everyone had a favorite baseball team. This made the game a huge source of entertainment back before television. From the 40s and on baseball only changed for the better it had pushed itself through a depression and 3 wars by the 60s and still managed to captivate a huge audience. Now let us move to the modern era of baseball and the problems with labor battles and strikes. In 1965 Baseball players were growing tired of cut wages they hired a man by the name if Marvin Miller a veteran labor organizer to help them change things. This lead to the first bargain agreement in 1968 between players and owners. It was a modest improvement but most of all it gave players leverage to negotiate with owners for there salaries instead of the traditional take it or leave the players were use to. By 1975 there had been more than 50 lawsuits to owners from players who felt they were cheated on salaries or trades. It gave the owners the feeling that they werenââ¬â¢t in charge anymore had to players would have some say in the business side of baseball. In 1975 the season had been delayed 13 games when players went on strike for the right to be a free agent when their contract was up. Owners relented but finally gave into the players conditions. This was nothing compared to t he 1994 season when all of baseball shut down due to a strike. The world series was canceled for the first time 92 years and baseballs commissioner was forced to resign. Problems between unions and owners and contract terms led to the cancel of the season. Many view the strike as huge waste of time since no real modification were put into effect. But finally after 234 days and more than 1 billion dollar in loses and no settlement baseball was back in business. In conclusion my purpose has been to inform you of a brief history of the early days of baseball, how the game accelerated in the 20th century and lastly the labor battles and strikes of the modern era. On that I hope everyone has better understand about what baseball is and how it came to be.

What to Include in a Student Portfolio
What to Include in a Student Portfolio Student portfolios are educational tools teachers use to create alternative assessments in the classroom. Including the right items in student portfolios are important, but before you decide on the items, review the basic steps for getting started, creating student portfoliosà as well as theirà purpose. The Missouri Department of Elementary Secondary Education notes that portfolios should show student growth and change over time, develop student thinking skills, identify strengths and weaknesses and track the development of one or more products of performance, such as samples of student work, tests or papers. No-Fuss Portfolios To achieve these goals, allow students to be involved in creating the portfolios. This will help minimize your paper-gathering time and help students take ownership.à Jon Mueller, a psychology professor at North Central College in Illinois, says that portfolios can be easy to manage and offers some tips for items to include in what he calls no-fuss portfolios: Have students select a piece or two of their work over the course of a quarter, semester or year; at the time of each selection, have the student write a brief reflection on the item, as well as why she included it; and, at the end of the quarter, semester or school year, ask students to reflect again on each item. Sample Items The kinds of items you have students include in their portfolios will vary by age and abilities. But, this brief list may give you ideas to get started. A letter to the reader discussing portfolio itemsA reading logQuotations the student especially likesGraphic illustrations of information, such as charts, concept diagrams, timelines and photographsVideo recordings of readings or performances. You can film students reading or performing using a smartphone and then download the filmed version onto a computer.A sample paragraph showing mastery of specific writing techniquesSample essays of various types descriptive, narrative, explanatory, expository, persuasive, cause and effect, ââ¬â¹compare and contrastà or defining terms.Writing that students created in their other classes, such as reports, speech outlines, essays or projects.Research-related writing, including a description of procedures, instruments such as surveys, results, and productsAn explanation of literary terms using examples from what students are readingCreative writing, including stories, poems, songs and scripts Reflection Phase The Missouri Department of Elementary Secondary Education says that to make portfolios really useful, remember that their purpose is to serve as authentic assessments evaluations of real student work over a given time period. Unlike other forms of assessment, such as a timed test, students should be given time to reflect on their work, says the department. And, dont assume students simply will know how to reflect. As with other academic areas, you may need to teach students this skill and spend time helping them learn how to (reflect) through instruction, modeling, lots of practice andà feedback. When the portfolios are complete, take time to meet with students individually or in small groups to discuss all of this learning material they have created, collected and reflected on. These meetings will help students gain insights from their body of work and give you a clear look at their thinking process.

Marketing Communication Manager for Local Chain of Fast-food Assignment
Marketing Communication Manager for Local Chain of Fast-food - Assignment Example The market, contribution, and limitation of competitors are central to competitor analysis (Sekhar 2010 p.67). And it is a systematic review of competitorââ¬â¢s activities for gaining competitive advantage (Harris 2009 p.24). KFC remains the most important challenge for the Burger Hut. KFC has spread across the world and has largely been able to open various branches and franchises in almost all countries, including in the mainland China. Furthermore, it has been observed that the KFC has largely been to retain its current market share in China. And its current market share and market position have largely been supported by various factors. KFC has a strong brand image. Brand and quality are two words that are mostly used interchangeably. And when this is applied to KFC, it can be easily extracted that they collectively represent KFCââ¬â¢s image in the minds of its customer. It is relevant to highlight that it is the prime contribution of KFC brand image that has enabled the company to retain its market share in China and in other countries where it is currently operating. It would not be incorrect to say that effective marketing strategy has also played its role in making the KFC brand image more competitive and unique as well. The KFC has adopted different marketing strategy in which it gives more importance to all those methods which enable the company to penetrate the different markets. For example, in some countries, the KFC has opened up its branches and in other countries; it has issued the franchise ownership to the local investors.

Security Management - Annotated Bibliography Example These different ways are meant to ensure the security of these facilities and minimize or entirely prevent disasters that may be brought about by them not being rigid. Some of these ways include: type of construction, access to the site, the height of the building and even location among other ways. According to Hayes, (2003) the traditional methods of loss prevention seem not to be working and especially in multi-million dollar companies hence putting the security of their assets in jeopardy. The senior management in these companies has decided on using technology as a contemporary measure to prevent further loss and protect the assets of the customers. This technology as a contemporary measure requires linkage with other managers in the business for it to be successful. According to the article, managers have always viewed security in terms of guards (physical security) as a form of security management. However, with cases of the guards and other physical security measures starting to be outdated and outmaneuvered by the information security system, the management has started adopting this by increasing the budget they allocate to the security dockets in their companies and this has gone way ahead to yield positive results as loss is prevented more without any injuries being inflicted on security

How do culture and society relate to each other Essay
What is culture and what is society? Even though these two definitions are closely related to each other, culture and society is not the same thing. While cultures are complexes of learned behavior patterns and perceptions, societies are groups of people who directly or indirectly interact with each other. People in societies also generally perceive that their society is distinct from others in terms of shared traditions and expectations. In the same time these two definitions are inevitable connected because culture is created and transmitted to others in a society. Cultures are not the products of lone individuals. They are the continuously evolving products of people interacting with each other. Cultural patterns such as language and politics make no sense except in terms of the interaction of people. If you were the only human on earth, there would be no need for language or government. To summarize, a culture is a configuration of learned behaviors and results of behavior whose component elements are shared and transmitted by the members of a particular society. 2. 5 Critically analyse the application of the terms ââ¬Ëcultureââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ësocietyââ¬â¢ to every day life. If I should analyse the terms ââ¬Ëcultureââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ësocietyââ¬â¢ to every day life, first of all I should state the fact I am foreigner living in different country and because of that inevitable I have a different perception about the things around me in comparison with the locals. Customs and social patterns which seems perfectly normal for the others at times can feel actually pretty strange and not at place for me. British society differs widely from the society I was living in back home; it consists of different rules and patterns of public behavior. Thatââ¬â¢s why itââ¬â¢s only natural for me to experience numerous cultural differences daily. For example in British society manners are very important and people place considerable value on punctuality. In England, people make great effort to arrive on time. If you agree to meet friends at exact time you can be sure they will be on time. It is often considered impolite to arrive even a few minutes late. If you are unable to keep an appointment, it is expected that you call the person you are meeting. In my country though nobody will pay attention if you are late a little for appointment. Especially when you are meeting with friends or even going to a party often a late arrival can considered to be very fashionable. Because of cultural differences sometimes it can occurred misunderstandings, in order to avoid that I need to be conscious of my actions in my every day life. 2. 6 Distinguish between personal perception and objective patterns. Personal perception is referred to the way how you see the world. It is related to the subjective, culture and cultural interpretation. Objective patterns are the patterns of behaviour, norms and rules which are imposed by the society and it is referred to the way how society see the world. Sometimes the personal perception can be in conflict with the objective patterns. One example of it is the Mormons. Mormons believe that men can marry as many women as they wish. From their point of view polygamy or plural marriage is acceptable and it is considerable for normal behavior. Ofcourse this is not how larger society sees it. Society rejects the idea strongly and considers polygamous relationships for illegal. Even though now polygamy is forbidden in all states of America, over a century ago it wasnââ¬â¢t prohibited in Utah until 1857 when the United States federal government forced Mormons to abandon the practice. According Wikipedia, the Mormons eventually complied and formally abolished the practice in 1890, in a document labeled ââ¬ËThe Manifestoââ¬â¢. Bibliography: Damen, L. (1987). How Shakespeares Macbeth Challenges the View of Typical...
Macbeth written by William Shakespeare brought the attention of the audience through the violence and the unexpected plot. Through the actions of the protagonist, he portrays many different ideas. One of the ideas he questions is manhood as it deals it in a unconventional way. Instead of portraying the protagonist actions that portray manhood, he has to struggle with the definition of manhood throughout the play. Additionally Shakespeare has shown different viewpoints of men and women in the play on the true definition of manhood. Business Law Contracts Essay - 2303 Words
LEGT 1710 Assignment 2 Introduction Harry (H) who is the father of James (J) is attempting to sue J for a breach in contract and is seeking damages of $30,000 which he believes is the outstanding amount that is owed to him by J. This case touches on the fundamental concepts of contract law where H can only claim damages if the formation of a valid contract between the two parties is evident via the elements of a contract, including intention, agreement, consideration, legal capacity, genuine consent and legality of objects must be established. Once these elements are satisfied, the terms of the contract need to be evaluated to deem whether the contract between H and J is enforceable. H offers to deliver the timber for $90,000, which then becomes binding when J accepts this offer by promising to pay the sum total of $90,000 for the timber, which is unqualified acceptance (Lawbook, 2006, 7.1.370). The offer is communicated and accepted by word of mouth (Felthouse v Bindley). Therefore it can be concluded that there is sufficient offer and acceptance between H and J for tha agreed additional $30,000. c) Consideration Consideration is the exchange of ââ¬Å"something for somethingâ⬠, or it must be the exchange of promises (Carter, Peden and Tolhurst 2007). In this case, J asks for a supply of timber in return for the promise to pay $60,000 as well as an extra $30,000. This consideration can be considered as good consideration as the exchange of promises occurs after the verbal contract had been established, unlike in Roscorla v Thomas which indicates past consideration, where consideration is made after the act has been perfomed. This consideration is also adequate as set up by the precedent in Chappell amp; Co Ltd v Nestle Co Ltd which shows that consideration must have some value, just as the timber, and the promised $30,000 have some value and as both parties are seen to gain some benefit from the exchange. However, it can be argued that there may be insufficiency ofShow MoreRelatedBusiness Law and Ethics, Offer and Acceptance for a Contract Essay1110 Words à |à 5 PagesBusiness Law and Ethics Assignment 14/03/2013 Module : 26313 Module leader : Phil Robinson Words count : 1088 In order to advise Neil, it is necessary to consider the law of the contracts, especially about offer and acceptance. Ap World Histroy Dbq Free Essays
DBQ Political, religious, and social factors affected the work of scientist in the sixteenth and seventeenth century in many ways. They were the reasons why natural philosophers questioned, studied, and continued to find new information in their discoveries. Developing a new scientific worldview must have required an abundance of controversy dealing with these important factors. We will write a custom essay sample on Ap World Histroy Dbq or any similar topic only for you Order Now There were people who believed that the discoveries made should not interfere with political power. *Thomas Hobbes, an English Philosopher, certainly believed in many theoriesââ¬â¢ that scientists had viewed. However he is best known for his political thought. Certainly his political views were included in his scientific works (Doc 7). Louis XVI, a political power, showed interest into the scientific studies. This evidently showed on a drawing to honor Louis XVIââ¬â¢s visit to the French Royal Academy (Doc 10). Clearly, science was encouraged to flourish because people knew the happiness of the country, for not only depending on the arms abroad but for also creating abundances at home (Doc 11). The social factor was furthermost likely to have been more analyzed in scientist works. Many were interested in what people thought of them and their studies. Scientist were even more proficient in removing their experiments completely if people disagreed. Marin Mersenne guaranteed that his experiments had been repeated more than 100 times, but however was willing to change them if someone did not agree. Others however, were confident in their studies and did not care for much criticism (Doc 1). The reason for why natural philosophers were sometimes held back was because they truly did not know what their objective was. This is most likely why they made slight progress in the sixteenth and seventeenth centauries (Doc 4). Religion was unquestionably a factor scientist considered. They took the principles of God into their works. It appeared impossible to them how things could have so much astonishing features and qualities and still have been created out of nature. They knew these things became to exist from an immeasurable wisdom and power (Doc 8). Just as God governs minds, minds have specific laws which place them above the moments of matter (Doc 12). Bible stories were used as comparisons with scientific views, such as John Calvin mentioning Moses who wrote in a popular style where all ordinary persons gifted with common sense and were able to be understood (Doc 2). He is a French Protestant theologian which may be what leads him to trust that astronomy unfolds the admirable wisdom of God. There were those who were not affected with political, religious, and social factors because they were limited on human rights. Women had certain difficulties in the scientific area. Margret Cavendish would have set her own school of natural philosophy if she would have not have feared the casting of a male school. *Margaret, a natural philosopher, was certainly interested in discoveries however, she understood the complications of having a part in this grouping (Doc 9). Studies should have been allowed from those who wished to learn, as well as those who selected to reject whatever is unidentified to them (Doc2). Both genders could have formed a friendship between intelligent associations; this would have been a great aid to the investigation and education of the truth (Doc 6). Political, religious, and social factors were massive topics. Natural Philosophers certainly were aware of their process of studies and experiments. They all had different views on the three factors causing old and new discoveries to be more interesting. How to cite Ap World Histroy Dbq, Papers

Defining Entrepreneurship Entrepreneur and Innovation â⬠Free Samples
Question: Discuss about the Defining Entrepreneurship Entrepreneur and Innovation. Answer: Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurship is defined by scholars as an activity that requires discovery, assessment, exploitation, and utilization of opportunities to bring forward new products and services, new methods of organizing markets, procedures and processes, and raw materials with the help of new organizing methods and techniques that have not been used before. Entrepreneurship can be an encouraging factor for innovation (Onetti, Zucchella, Jones, McDougall-Covin, 2010). However, it can be said that although entrepreneurship needs innovation and ideas but goes much beyond a simple idea or innovation. Entrepreneurship is a powerful and an aggressive change agent in society and is one of the very important factors for the advancement and development of society. The study of entrepreneurship involves understanding the knowledge, skills, innovation processes, and creation of new ventures or businesses (Schaper, Volery, Weber, Gibson, 2014). An entrepreneur From this perspective of entrepreneurship, an entrepreneur is a person who is always looking out for new opportunities for business and trade. The factors which distinguish an entrepreneur are innovation, an ability of recognizing an opportunity, establishing processes for growth in business, and employing strategic management techniques in business (Schaper, Volery, Weber, Gibson, 2014). The motivating factor for an inventor or an engineer is generally the challenges presented by a problem but their main purpose is not a commercial opportunity for their idea or invention (Mbhele, 2012). The entrepreneurs, on the other hand, make use of the development in technology to enhance productivity and commercial activities and are therefore the force behind the economic growth and development of the country (Nambisan, Baron, 2012). Innovation Innovation comprises of both the business and the technical aspects of any change in technology or an invention. Innovation is just one of the many elements of the processes and procedures that an entrepreneur applies for the success of his business venture (Onetti, Zucchella, Jones, McDougall-Covin, 2010). Innovation relates to the evaluation of an idea and then bringing it in the market. But assessing the attractiveness of the market, and the dynamics and size of the market are important components of the commercial viability of an idea, therefore, the entrepreneurial understanding is a necessity for commercial success (Wright, n.d.). Key elements of entrepreneurship For an entrepreneurial process to be successful there are 5 key elements or conditions that need to be there. These are: The entrepreneur: an entrepreneur has to be proactive and recognize the right business opportunities to exploit and for that an individual needs to exhibit traits of entrepreneurial alertness and some prior knowledge about the markets, technology and trends, needs, and demands. He also should have good social networks which can help him in developing the business opportunity (Five Key Elements of Entrepreneurship, n.d.). Market opportunities: a market opportunity can be defined as a situation in which a new process can be introduced and new products and services can be sold at a price greater than the production costs. These opportunities can be present as market-pulled or driven by the demand and needs, or as market-pushed which are created by unemployed capacities and resources (Chapter 3: The entrepreneurship process UPSpace, n.d.). The resources: The resources which can help in the entrepreneurial venture to succeed consist of anything that can be useful to further the business opportunity. There are generally classified into six types of resources as per the resource-based theory (Chapter 3: The entrepreneurship process UPSpace, n.d.). The financial resources for the capital investment, the physical resources for manufacturing products, the human resources or the skilled and unskilled labour, the technological resources, the social resources, and the organizational resources (Ismail, Rose, Uli, Abdullah, 2012). The organization: To exploit the entrepreneurial opportunities various types of organizational arrangements are needed. Although entrepreneurship is generally associated with new start-ups, but there are other type of organizational structures also which provide opportunities entrepreneurial innovation. These include organizational structures like corporate ventures, joint ventures, franchises, business acquisitions, and much more. This proves that an entrepreneur and entrepreneurship can exist in diverse environments (Chatterji, Glaeser, Kerr, 2014). The right environment: To achieve entrepreneurial success the entrepreneurs need positive external environments which can be rich in different types of opportunities. The opportunity in an external environment can emerge due to regulatory, demographic, political, and social changes. The two important dimensions of the environment which affect the entrepreneurial activities are the macro level environment which comprises the society as a whole and the micro level environment which comprises of a community (Chapter 3: The entrepreneurship process UPSpace, n.d.). The role of entrepreneurship in economic growth Entrepreneurship has a major role to play in the economic development and raising the standards of living in a country. An entrepreneur may start a business venture for his personal growth and development but at the same time contributes a lot to the community, region, society, and country (Drucker, 2014). Some of the effects that entrepreneurship has on the economic development of the country are: Wealth Creation: In setting up new business ventures entrepreneurs invest their own capital and resources but also attract capital in the form of equity and debt from the lenders, investors, and the public at large. This results in a pooled capital which leads to creation and distribution of wealth from the success of entrepreneurial ventures and is also one of the primary aims of economic growth and development (7 Roles of Entrepreneurship in Economic Development of a Country, n.d.). Creating jobs: Entrepreneurs are job creators instead of job seekers. An entrepreneur instead of seeking a job creates a multiple numbers of job opportunities for others. One of the basic underlying principles of economic development is the job opportunities provided by the new and old businesses in the country (Drucker, 2014). Balanced regional growth and development: Entrepreneurs can help in the regional growth and development in their countries by locating their businesses in the less developed regions of the country. The setting up of industries in underdeveloped regions would lead to an automatic development in the infrastructure, transport, electricity, water, healthcare, and other public services in those regions (7 Roles of Entrepreneurship in Economic Development of a Country, n.d.). It would also create a number of indirect and direct job opportunities which would help in developing the economy of the region. The rise in disposable income would lead to an increase in the consumption levels creating a positive economic output (Kumar, n.d.). Per capita income and GDP: Each new business venture utilizes the labour, land, and capital resources to manufacture products and develop services that add to the national product and income. This raises the GDP and per capita income of the nation as a whole which is one of the important objectives of economic development (Shrivastava, Shrivastava, 2013). Standard of living: One of the key objectives of economic growth and development of the nation is to raise the standard of living of the population of the country (Peck, 2016). The entrepreneurs contribute to the economic growth of the society but also develop and adopt the innovation that leads to an enhancement in the quality of life of their consumers, employees, investors, and other stakeholders. For example, the use of automated machines improves time and cost efficiency and enhances productivity and also ensures that the same goods are available to the consumers at much lower prices (Shrivastava, Shrivastava, 2013). Exports: Another benefit of entrepreneurship is the expansion of the business in the foreign markets and tapping the offshore business opportunities. This not just provides an access to the global markets but also helps in increasing the foreign currency inflows in the country. This also gives the entrepreneurs an access to the latest technologies being used in the much advanced foreign markets. It also works to provide an economic stability to the business in the events of local economic recessions (Kumar, n.d.). Community development: Economic growth does not automatically lead to community development in all the regions of the country. Therefore, to attract entrepreneurial ventures a region will have to develop a pool of skilled and educated workers by providing educational and technical training opportunities (7 Roles of Entrepreneurship in Economic Development of a Country, n.d.). Explain the process of new venture creation The process of creating a new venture is considered to be the pivotal activity of entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurial process consists of all the activities, functions, and actions associated with recognizing opportunities and creating ventures to pursue those opportunities (Peck, 2016). Some Scholars have divided the new venture creation process model into two types: the process model which emphasizes on the entrepreneurial opportunities and the entrepreneurial behaviour model. The opportunities process models: These models focus on the procedures and processes through which new products, services, goods, raw materials, organizing methods, and markets can be introduced with the help of new Means-end, or ends, or means relationships. This model is further bifurcated into three opportunity viewpoints: the discovery process view, the allocative process view, and the Creative process view (Rico, Dubois, Coq, 2011). The behaviour process models: These models focus more on the individual entrepreneurs and study the activities of the entrepreneurs. This model is based on the view that for an entrepreneurship study and research it is very important to understand what are the activities undertaken by the individual entrepreneurs, what is actually created by them when they give a concrete shape to their new venture ideas (Rico, Dubois, Coq, 2011). The common features of Entrepreneurship in Australia and the Asia-pacific region Some of the common features that can be seen in the new start ups in the Asia pacific region and with a special reference to Australian ventures are: Among the indigenous businesses forestry, agriculture, fishery, tourism, recreation and arts, restaurants, and cafes are among the favoured business activities (Rola-Rubzen, 2011). Most of these businesses are managed by either the owner or the co-owners, very few are managed by hired staff (Schaper, Volery, Weber, Gibson, 2014). The business models for these ventures consist of sole proprietorships, trusts, partnerships, cooperatives, incorporated associations, companies, and Non-profit organizations (Rola-Rubzen, 2011). Blitzkrieg Essays - Armoured Warfare, Blitzkrieg, Military Strategy
Blitzkrieg The First Phase: Dominance of the Axis Man for man, the German and Polish forces were an even match. Hitler committed about 1.5 million troops, and the Polish commander, Marshal Edward Smigy-Rydz, expected to muster 1.8 million. That was not the whole picture, however. The Germans had six panzer (armored) and four motorized divisions; the Poles had one armored and one motorized brigade and a few tank battalions. The Germans' 1600 aircraft were mostly of the latest types. Half of the Poles' 935 planes were obsolete. Result of German Blitzkrieg on Poland On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. The Polish army expected the attack to come along the Polish frontiers. But Hitler introduced a new kind of war called a blitzkrieg, which means ?lightning war.? Waves of German bombers targeted railroads in Tczew, shown here, which crippled Polish military mobilization. Hundreds of tanks smashed through Polish defenses and rolled deep into the country. The Poles fought hard, but on September 17, the Soviet Union invaded their country from the east. By the end of the month, Poland had fallen. The Blitzkrieg in Poland Polish strategic doctrine called for a rigid defense of the whole frontier and anticipated several weeks of preliminary skirmishing. It was wrong on both counts. On the morning of September 1, waves of German bombers hit the railroads and hopelessly snarled the Polish mobilization. In four more days, two army groups?one on the north out of East Prussia, the other on the south out of Silesia?had broken through on relatively narrow fronts and were sending armored spearheads on fast drives toward Warsaw and Brst. This was blitzkrieg (lightning war): the use of armor, air power, and mobile infantry in a pincers movement to encircle the enemy. Between September 8 and 10, the Germans closed in on Warsaw from the north and south, trapping the Polish forces west of the capital. On September 17, a second, deeper encirclement closed 160 km (100 mi) east, near Brst. On that day, too, the Soviet Red Army lunged across the border. By September 20, practically the whole country was in German or Soviet hands, and only isolated pockets continued to resist. The last to surrender was the fortress at Kock, on October The Blitzkrieg in Poland Polish strategic doctrine called for a rigid defense of the whole frontier and anticipated several weeks of preliminary skirmishing. Course of the War In a few weeks of blitzkrieg (?lightning war?), mechanized German divisions overwhelmed the ill-equipped Poles, taking western Poland. The Soviets, not to be outdone, seized the eastern part. Encouraged by success, in 1940 Germany swallowed Denmark, Norway, and the Low Countries and invaded France, which rapidly collapsed. British and French forces were hastily evacuated from Dunkerque to England. Hitler then blockaded Britain with submarines and bombed the country with his new air force. He made a ten-year military pact with the other Axis powers?Italy and Japan. In 1941, to aid faltering Italian forces, he sent troops to North Africa, Greece, and Yugoslavia. To block Soviet ambitions in agricultural eastern Europe, which industrial Germany needed, he suddenly invaded the USSR. As the Soviets retreated eastward, German armies engulfed the rich Ukraine. At this point, Hitler was master of

Frank Lloyd Wright Essays - Modernist Architects, Free Essays
Frank Lloyd Wright Essays - Modernist Architects, Free Essays Frank Lloyd Wright ".......having a good start not only do I fully intend to be the greatest architect who has yet lived, but fully intend to be the greatest architect who will ever live. Yes, I intend to be the greatest architect of all time." - Frank Lloyd Wright 1867-1959 CHILDHOOD Born in Richland Center, in southwestern Wisconsin, on June 8, 1867 (Sometimes reported as 1869) Frank Lincoln Wright (Changed by himself to Frank Lloyd Wright) was raised in the influence of a welsh heritage. The Lloyd-Jones family, his mother"s side of the family, had great influence on Mr. Wright throughout his life. The family was Unitary in faith and lived close to each other. Major aspects within the Lloyd-Jones family included education, religion, and nature. Wright"s family spent many evenings listening to William Lincoln Wright read the works of Emerson, Thoreau, and Blake outloud. Also his aunts Nell and Jane opened a school of their own pressing the philosophies of German educator, Froebel. Wright was brought up in a comfortable, but certainly not warm household. His father, William Carey Wright who worked as a preacher and a musician, moved from job to job, dragging his family across the United States. His parents divorced when Wright was still young. His mother Anna (Lloyd-Jones) Wright, relied heavily on upon her many brothers sisters and uncles, and was intellectually guided by his aunts and his mother. Before her son was born, Anna Wright had decided that her son was gong to be a great architect. Using Froebel"s geometric blocks to entertain and educate her son, Mrs. Wright must have struck genius her son possessed. Use of the imagination was encouraged and Wright was given free run of the playroom filled with paste, paper, and cardboard. On the door were the words, SANCTUM SANCTORUM (Latin for: place of inviolable privacy). Mr. Wright was seen as a dreamy and sensitive child, and cases of him running away while working on the farmlands with some uncles is noted. This pattern of running away continued throughout his lifetime. WRIGHT"S FIRST BREAK In 1887, at the age of twenty, Frank Lloyd Wright moved to Chicago. During the late nineteenth century, Chicago was a booming, crazy place. With an education of Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Wright found a job as a draftsman in a Chicago architectural firm. During this short time with the firm of J. Lyman Silsbee, Wright started on his first project, the "Hillside Home" for his aunts, Nell and Jane. Impatiently moving forward, Wright got a job at one of the best known firms in Chicago at the time, Adler and Sullivan. Sullivan was to become Wright"s greatest mentor. LOUIS SULLIVAN: LIEBER MEISTER Wright Referred to Sullivan as "Lieber Meister" (beloved master). He admired his talent for ornamation, and his skill of drawing intricate plans and designs. Wright picked up on his ways of Sullivan and soon became ahead of Alder in importance within the firm. Wright"s relationship between he and his employer caused great amounts of tension between Wright and his fellow draftsmen, and as well as in-between Sullivan and Adler. Wright was assigned the residential contracts of the firm. His work soon greatend as he accepted jobs outside of the firm. When Sullivan found out about this in 1893, he called Wright on a breach of contract. Rather than to drop the "night jobs", Wright walked out of the firm. When Wright left the company, Sullivan"s quantity of contract declined quickly. Sullivan soon ran into economic troubles and his international reputation dwindled by 1920. Sullivan was soon reguarded as worthless to the architectural world. He resorted to alcoholism and died in 1924 without regaining the glory of what was held in their early years of Chicago. LIFE AFTER THE FIRM Wright quickly built up a practice in residential architecture. At one point in his career, Wright would produce 135 buildings in ten years. Wright took a different approach to architecture by designing the furniture, light fixtures, and other things that were in the structures that he made. He developed a unique type of architecture that was known as the "Prairie" style. Dominated by the horizontal line, the style would make-up the type of buildings designed in the 1900-1913 era of his career. Wright had two other distinctive styles and a period for each one of them, one being the Textile block (1917-1924) and the other the Usonian (1936-1959). In 1909 Wright took off for Europe, once again leaving a stable life, with six children, a wife and a well
